Ted has leaned in this direction with his manifold testing program, offering to bring loaner manifolds to Columbus rather than ship them. From Columbus there are several directions they can be carried.

I think it works and has already been done here, it just doesn't get mentioned that much. Charlie and I have moved parts around with a little help from our friends.

Transport of parts by site members does indeed work. I have had cylinder heads ferried in steps from California while also helping to deliver parts myself for others to different parts of the country while traveling. By all means post your needs or travel plans if needing to move parts economically or wish to help deliver them. You sometimes get to see some very unique car collections you’d never get to see otherwise.

MoonShadow (2/8/2010) I think this is worth looking at. If it works you could post a request for transport and see what happens. Relays might even be a possability. Chuck in NhChuck, The Farmall guys do a lot of relays, they are always posting how they met someone and parts have been transfered to the next guy.

Y block Billy (2/8/2010)
Aussie Bill, On second thought, why don't you join him and bring us some of that exotic Y block stash of intakes, valve covers etc. you have! Billy, I would love to meet all you guys! i used to go the Hershy/carlisle swaps in late 80,s and 90,s , and would be only guy seen making numerous trips up and down hills, through mud and sun to the car trunk with trolleys full of y block intakes and parts. etc, times have changed and am bringing up 13 1/2 yr old daughter by myself and isnt possible to get away for that long, school etc, although i do snatch a week to go fishing up north in Nov, but awkward. As for overweight on planes, i think Lons going on diet to be able to bring back more stuff, ha, ha, only joking. We would allways book into airport LAX early with extra bags full of car parts and avoided the additional baggage charges, lucky i guess but worked, i guess in todays extreme times the luggage comes under more scrutiny. But yes lets promote the pony express and spread the word. Y BLOCK!

Aussie Bill, Lon is coming to Columbus this year, don't you have a big list for him to take back to Austrailia for you. I mostly travel by air and was charged $90.00 on my return the other day for overweight luggage, I have been charged for being 1/2 lb over so there wouldn't be any shipping saving there. However if allowed I do go to Carlisle each year with a bunch of friends which could be a great meeting place since many others from around the country go also. There could be a list of different meeting places at different venues for people to meet with parts.

I think it's an awesome idea.. I don't travel a whole lot but on the times i do i'll definetely let you guys know.. I've had alot of good experiences with parts relays and it saves a bundle on shipping expenses..
