I go to a tractor site (farmallcub.com) and in the classified section it is broken down to for sale, wanted, vine (parts for sale one ebay, craigs list etc) and a section called EXPRESS. Tractor parts are heavy (so are Y block parts) So the guys from the farmall site use each other to deliver parts to each other. I tried this during the September shootout. I did sell a pair of heads to a guy in TX and shipping would have been over $100 and this would have killed the deal. At the shootout Ted took them and the guy was local to Ted, so he saved $100! In the express forum people post when they are traveling, or they ask if anyone could help etc. Its just a thought and one way of us all helping one another. I think Y guy's are some of the best and honest people I have met. I wouldnt have a problem with anyone here transporting my parts to someone or vise versa. I hope I can help someone in the future. What do you think?

Kevin and mark, great idea and you would get to meet other folks and widen communication and friendships. Here in australia we often call that sending by Pony Express. having things passed on by friends when visiting or travelling in your direction, may take a while but saves $$ and you cant wait your turn to return the favour. I saw you reply to towing request the other day and thought thats the spirit!!. regards bill

I think this is worth looking at. If it works you could post a request for transport and see what happens. Relays might even be a possability. Chuck in Nh

Aussie Bill, Lon is coming to Columbus this year, don't you have a big list for him to take back to Austrailia for you. I mostly travel by air and was charged $90.00 on my return the other day for overweight luggage, I have been charged for being 1/2 lb over so there wouldn't be any shipping saving there. However if allowed I do go to Carlisle each year with a bunch of friends which could be a great meeting place since many others from around the country go also. There could be a list of different meeting places at different venues for people to meet with parts.

Y block Billy (2/8/2010)
Aussie Bill, On second thought, why don't you join him and bring us some of that exotic Y block stash of intakes, valve covers etc. you have! Billy, I would love to meet all you guys! i used to go the Hershy/carlisle swaps in late 80,s and 90,s , and would be only guy seen making numerous trips up and down hills, through mud and sun to the car trunk with trolleys full of y block intakes and parts. etc, times have changed and am bringing up 13 1/2 yr old daughter by myself and isnt possible to get away for that long, school etc, although i do snatch a week to go fishing up north in Nov, but awkward. As for overweight on planes, i think Lons going on diet to be able to bring back more stuff, ha, ha, only joking. We would allways book into airport LAX early with extra bags full of car parts and avoided the additional baggage charges, lucky i guess but worked, i guess in todays extreme times the luggage comes under more scrutiny. But yes lets promote the pony express and spread the word. Y BLOCK!
