I have a 292 in a '64 F-100. I am transplanting it into a 60s car. I was always counting on modifying the motor mounts in the truck to do this, but after examining it the transmission has a crossmember, but the engine crossmember is not there. The engine is supported by a plate mounted to the front and then to the front of the front clip, just below the radiator mounts.
Is this a good thing? Should I adapt this motor plate for the new car, or seek out some motor mounts and use those? Bear in mind, the new car has no frame (it's a 63 Fairlane).

Can you get a 54-62 car crossmember/mount and modify it to fit in the Fairlane. Then you can use a stock 54 to 62 sedan motor mount.

The Fairlane already has provisions for engine mid-mounts but they’ll have to be modified to adapt to a motor mount that attaches to a Y engine. Using 352/390 FE mounts for a ‘63/’64 Galaxy are more compact in design and will bolt directly to the Y engine. These will possibly allow the Y engine to sit lower in the Fairlane chassis without as much frame mount attachment fabrication on the body. Without looking at the Fairlane engine compartment, I’m thinking you’ll need a front sump oil pan on the Y engine to clear the steering.
