Finished pulling the dust cover off.. not only were there mice in there at one point, when i pulled it off an entire colony of carpenter ants fell out!!! And to boot, the input shaft of the trans is rusted solid into the engine.. This is gonna be fun.. Any suggestions guys?

Well i managed to get the trans off finally.. i had to decimate the bell to do so however.. A moment of silence please for a fallen Y block bell-housing.......... Now that that's out of the way the even better news is i pulled the valve covers off and this motor has a set of high ratio rockers with the jamb-nuts on it.. Good news for me as my intentions with this Y was to pull the few things off of it that i needed and part the rest out to re-coup the cost.. Hopefully i can get out to the shop before work tomorrow and finish blowing this thing apart.. If only there were more hours in the day

The hi ratio rockers are good news. Sometimes on the blocks I tear down, I find a set or two. Odder still is how many blocks I have torn down, only to find mismatched heads, mismatched rockers, push rods haven in the valley, and all kinds of things....glad to see you got some stuff you can use. Sometimes you can't find too much....Tongue

...Mismatched heads? That's a new one to me.
