Hello Rick! Tee-Bird sells them as a set of 16 for $90.00.I dont know why they would be sold as 16 when in most cases you only need the exhaust ones replaced.You might check with one of the several members on this site who build and sell motors.Maybe they could supply a set of 8.I am in the midst of rebuilding my 292.I had my heads redone by installing seats for the exhaust,new valves(NORS American made not offshore junk off Ebay for an excellent price) and new NORS 1.92 intake valves to replace the smaller original intake valves.

  

TeeBird Products (tee-bird.com) sell the hardened valve seat inserts.

They have an online catalogue.

I have found them to be good people to deal with.

Hello Ken! Apparently there are several different size inserts depending on what you purchase.My heads were redone and I can clearly see the insert.Someone else said that on their heads the insert is hidden under the valve.You would be best to purchase the inserts first before machining.I dont know if you are aware but in most cases only the exhaust seats need to be done.You dont need to replace your heads.Because of the unleaded gas any reconditioned head would require inserts.

  

I have a question, I am wondering If anybody knows what the dimensions of the the hardened exaust seat insert is,I am from Ireland and the machine shop has no experience of Y blocks, he is afraid of cutting out too much and damaging the head. It is a 1959 292 but the head are stamped coae with 1.64 inlet valves ps can you buy the inserts.
This is a great site ,I have learned so much, Iprobably should be looking for the proper set of heads but the thoughts of postage to Ireland and the weight of two cylinder heads so i will have to use the one I have.
any information would be really appreciated.
