For those of you who have not yet had the pleasure of installing spiro locks:
This is my first experience with Spiro Locks and I have no idea what the right way is. The people I spoke with had pretty much the same thing to say "Pull it apart slightly and spiral it in." along with "Take your time and be patient." It is much easier said than done. The following is what worked for me.
At first I tried to pull the lock apart so that it looks like a spring coil with 1.5 turns.

Then I tried to screw it into the slot, turning it clockwise just like a bolt. I tried this for about 30 minutes. I could get it about 1/3 of a turn and that was it. Since I had no idea what to try next, I decided to carefully play around with it to see what happens. Eureka! I'm wasn't sure how I did it but 1 turn of the lock practically fell in. I got the rest of that one lock seated and was careful to observe how I was doing it.
I found that it has to be worked into the slot with a counter clockwise motion. Not turning the lock, more like a strategic push.
For the purpose of this explanation, inside means toward the center of the piston and out side means toward the outside of the piston.
To start, I get the inside end of the lock into the groove.

Next, I make sure that the outside end of the lock positioned just ahead of the groove in the piston pin bore. I believe this groove is to simplify lock removal so that is my reasoning for placing the end there. It has to be ahead of that groove before installation in order to get it placed at the groove when it is installed.

Now, I pull slightly on the end opposite that which I am trying to get into the groove while pushing down on the end that I want to go into the groove. The following image helps to illustrate this. My right hand pulls gently while my left hand (thumb) pushes the lock into the grove.

Here are some more pictures, taken in sequence.

Here you can see that the end of the lock is positioned right in the groove.

Hopefully this will help some of you. I don't know if it's right but it worked.
Anyone with prior experience please add to this.
How about removing them? I played around a bit, trying to remove them but no luck.
