You don't need the thin plate with the spin-on. Just use the heavy plate, o-ring (or gasket) and fitting.

Can someone tell me how many round plates are used on the spin-on oil filter adapter? When I tore down my motor there was the plate that the filter seals against and behind it was another smaller plate also marked "top" which I can see no purpose to.Maybe its left over from the original cannister filter.Should there just be the plate which seals against the block using the rubber "O Ring"?Thanks!
