I pulled down my Canadian block and found an ECK crank. Has one half moon cutout on the flange. Anybody know what it is? Thanks, Chuck in NH

Thanks John. I was pretty sure it was a 292 but didn't find it listed. Mummert mentions "EC" cranks. Is this a series starting with EC and a third variable letter?

I'm currently waiting shipment for a EC 7 (as advertized). I thought the guy may have missread a ECZ and bought it cheap. Maybe I'll get lucky. Thanks again. Chuck

Chuck,

I have a ECK crank in my Vicky . I will check with Jeff Cooper ,the guy that rebuilt it . I'm pretty sure he said ECK cranks were from Canadian Mercurys ??? Jeff seems to think they are a pretty good item .Good for 6500rpm .

Regards Lon

Chuck:

To be sure, measure the main journals.  272/292 are 2 1/2", 312 are 2 5/8.

Again thanks all for the response. I've always heard that the Canadian castings were generally better. I'm quite sure the ECK crank/block is a 292. I'm having it sonic checked this week. I have a set of 30 over 312 pistons I want to put in it.

The other crank is in process of shipping from New York. I'm just hoping that the EC7 turns out to be an ECZ. (any odds)

Also, I may have scored a 312 block yesterday. Now with a set of rods I could be going even larger! "If ya can't make it run make it bigger"!

Of course the Canadian cranks are better! They have to make them strong enough to handle our sub zero climate. BigGrin That is why we had to ship all those parts down under. Those guys down there keep missing shifts and breaking cranks, so Ford of Canada decided to help them out and send them good solid Canadian parts! Tongue We didn't mind the extra work in the foundry though at least in there we kept warm! Rolleyes
