The dizzy is stuck in the 292 in my wife's 59 Edsel & won't turn either way. I tried bumping it with a cold chisel & hammer, but it won't budge. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Butch

This is a very common problem when the timing hasnt been touched for years,Clean away any grease,oil etc from around the distributor and apply some penetrating oil.Let it soak and reapply several times.Will usually free up after a few applications of penetrating oil.I used a soft faced hammer and gently tapped on the advance unit to break it loose after soaking seveal times.

Lots of penetrating fluid like Master Blaster,WD40. Then tapping with a rubber hammer what will seem like forever . Patience is the key. Took me 4 days to get one out once.

Along with the previous advice, you could try using a long punch or drift. Brass is best, & tap repeatedly the base of the distributor at the block. In any case soak it and be patient, do not beat on it anywhere!!

Here are some links that come up when using the search bar. http://www.y-blocksforever.com/forums/Topic32479-3-1.aspx http://www.y-blocksforever.com/forums/Topic2562-3-1.aspx I’ll add that a small pipe wrench around the base of the distributor can sometimes help to break it loose but this is best done after the aforementioned soaking with penetrant has been performed. Work the wrench such that you are trying to move the distributor in both directions until it does break loose. I do come across quite a few stuck distributors in core engines but because the engines are typically on an engine stand or where I can flip them over, I have the luxury of soaking the distributors from both the top and bottom before attempting to put some serious effort into removing the distributors.

Does the car run? A hot engine will suck the penetrant better and warm parts free up better. if not warm the area around base of distributor "Note I said Warm" not melt the distributor and keep soaking, the heat draws the penetrent in and the expanding and shrinking components from heating and cooling help to free up.

Just wanted to let you know I finally got it loose. I think the Kroil did it. At least it gets the credit because that was what I was using when it broke loose. Thanks for the help,
