Well I started her up today and it runs GREAT! No unusual noises and haven't seen any leaks-yet.Have about 50 oil pressure at idle with a new Stewart Warner oil gauge(should be accurate).Howerever I have a couple of concerns.I had the camshaft oil groove deepened to .032 to help get more oil up to the heads. Now there is too much oil and its not draining away fast enough. The rocker gaskets are saturated,What do I need to do to cut down a little of the flow to the heads?Other thing  I discovered is my damper is out by about 55 degrees. When I set the initial timing with my light at 10 BTDC it would not idle fast enough without increasing idle speed at the carb. When I did that the ported vacuum outlet had fulltime vacuum because the throttle plates were open too far.Using a vacuum gauge to set the timing fixed that but now the damper shows 55BTDC.Makes it a litle more challenging to set valve clearances.I put on a timing  tape and its marked off at 45 degree intervals. When I charged up the battery after sitting all winter I can only get "fair" on my hygrometer.Obviously the battery is about done.My voltmeter is showing a charging rate of about 15-17 volts,Is this because of the battery or is there something else I should look at.All the advice and answered questions over the last year or so seems to have paid off with this rebuild.THANKS EVERYONE!

Are the overflow tubes installed in the rocker shafts? If you've pressurized the shafts, it may be something you'll have to live with. As long as the valve cover is straight, it should seal well and the oil level shouldn't be a problem.

Mark,

Do you have the rocker shaft drain tubes pointed down the pushrod holes?

Charlie! The overflow tubes are open.Did not feel that with the deeper oil groove in the cam it was neccessary to pressurize the rockers.Lots of oil flow as is.Would switching to rubber or whatever they use instead of the cork type gaskets be an answer? The overflow tubes are pointing down the pushrod holes at the end and they are flowing lots of oil.
