This is continuation of previous post as I have found new issues/problems . I installed a pressure gauge on the fuel line and am getting just a bit over 4 PSI. Bit low? I also have a glass fuel filter in my fuel line and when this car stalls or is difficult to restart the filter has no gas in it or very little . So,hard starting on restart. Yesterday when I installed presure gauge the fuel stayed in the line. The filter is full even today it is . Gas spills out of carb as I shake the car. So, the bowl is full. I am changing all my fuel lines from the tank to the pump.  Does this seem to be fuel pump more than carb?  I cant get a carburetor kit for my carb anyplace around here. I had to order it and it wont be in till Wed.. So for now its do what I can to  make it better. Does this sound like a fuel pump on its way out or some new gremlin?  Thanks

UPDATE.... Changed fuel lines took car out and returned and car stalled in driveway. No fuel in filter. Saw bubbles coming up from fuel pump side to filter. Waited about 10 minutes and restarted car. Ran fine. More bubbles. Will start car or attempt to start car a while later and see what happens. Have ordered a new pump. Totally confused .

Hey Birdman;;   Have you changed your gas  tank.  had to change mind a couple years ago, sounds like the sock (pickup screen in tank) is bad. Had this happen to wife's car, drove me crazy for a while.  Good Luck and God Bless

Birdman...2 things...make sure your hose clamps are reefed tight on the fuel lines. I had a heckuva time chasing an air leak on mine. And, what about the gas cap? Vented or not?

 Hi   Do you have a stock type braided hose going from the fuel line to the fuel pump?  I had a similar problem and found that the hose would actually suck air through the braided sides,but wouldn't leak fuel out! I was checking for leaks while the engine was running and as I wiggled this hose ,I could feel suction. It was a N.O.S hose, but well aged ,I guess.  Barry L

Barry, what you described with the braided hose is one of the most overlooked fuel problems our cars had! not that this the problem in this case yet but is common problem. regards bill.

Only flex line I have is supply line to pump. It is now new. Vented gas cap. No new tank. A bit chilly this AM waiting on the sun to warm things up before I head outside. Will advise .

Earl,

         Sounds to me like there's a possibility of an air leak in your fuel supply line. If you leave the car set you may be able to find it by looking for a wet (Gasoline) area on the line or under the car.

Check your engine oil level, I've had some pumps that leaked gas to oil pan and non to outside.

Took carb apart today. This morning ther was very little fuel in the carb and I decided to see whats up. Found float level to be abolut 1/16" short of required adjustment. Found fuel inlet valve sticking  closed. Got carb apart and cleaned everything I could . Inside the main body as I sprayed cleaner in it washed out what appeared to be black fluid. Dirty I thought. Installed a 6.5 power valve. The one in it seemed to be of poor quality and no numbers on it so I dont know what it was. Cleaned everything as good as I could ,reassembled ,reinstalled and fired it up . No leaks. Some idle issues but easily adjusted . Was backing  out  of garage and it began to rain. Will wait it out and do a road test . If this doesnt work then new carb,fuel pump,spacer and eventually a new owner.
