I'm traveling thru Lincoln Neb. Thursday so I'm stopping off at Speedway to get the extended shafts for my 3 94's, I see a reference to a primary throttle plate and secondary throttle plates. Whats the difference between the two? The carbs are all identical 1 1/16. A little confused, but I'm teachable. Thanx, Gary

The secondary throttle plates have a different angle and are supposed to seal better in the throttle bore. I have those in my 3x2 set-up. Still have a slight vacuum from the secondary carbs but its better than it was.

55,

I started with a flathead 8 years ago and am moving to the next gen ford for the next project.  Glad I found this site.

For carb issues with the 94 or 97, try a post on the www.Fordbarn.com Early V8 page.  Free to join and there's two experts.  CharlieNY and KenCT.  They rebuild and sell real parts.  They are mostly resto types on that site, and also have a late V8 page.

Also, from www.flatheadv8.org there've been several posts on the declining quality of Speedway repro parts
