after checking out some of the past threads on oil pressure, I have a question:

my OP is 60-70 consistently w/ plain ole Q State 30 wt. oil (recent rebuild, approx 500 mi on engine so far)...

should I switch to perhaps a multi-weight, like 10-40, in the interest of bringing down my OP just a bit to more in the range of say 50?

or

am I okay to stay at 60-70 lbs?

thanks,Mark

Are you sure your gauge is right. I use a master gauge when I'm in doubt. Gauges in the dash are quite often inaccurate.

mine runs 65 and idles at 50.changing to 10  40 wouldnt help.some engines will burn oil with high pressure but it doesnt hurt anything else.you must have a heavy spring in your pump.my new pump had 2 springs so i put in the heavy one.its easy to change to a lighter since a y has an outside pump.i havent driven mine yet so dont know if i will have to change it.
