Anyone know the heighth of the front springs on my 55 Vickey? Switching to disc, I had them chopped when I first built the car and I don't remember how much. Thanx, Gary

Hey Gary! I assume you must have used blocks to get the rear down.What size did you use?Whats the measurement on yours from bottom of front fender to level ground?Thanks

  

I used 1 inch blocks, everything was fine till I correctly routed my exhaust, then I'd bottom out once in a while so I pulled them out. I bent the pipes a little off and the wrong shocks. I never measured the car stance and now it's up in the air with the front assy off. Gary

Gary! I put new coils in when I did my brakes.Got a pair of Moog from a guy who never used them.I just measured the old ones and they are 16 inchs.The new ones were about an 1 1/2 inchs taller if this helps you.

  

According to the '55 shop manual, all passenger front springs were approximately 15" free height. This varied a little depending on what diameter wire was used. The installed height for all was/is 9.59".

I used the 1" bar stock under the front spring plate in the front and 3" blocks in the rear. I love the stance although I did have to use the truck rear shocks to get longer travel for tire changing. Otherwise I had to flip the rear spring schackle each time. Chuck in NH

Hi Chuck in NH,  Wow- what a pretty '56 you have.  Makes me miss my red and white Victoria that I sold many years ago.  The Merc taillights look cool also.  I cut the front coils on my '56 back in the day, I think it was two full coils.  Too much, way too stiff.  Have fun, Nick Brann - K.C., MO

Just after I graduated from Ruskin High School I had a 57 convertible. I cut 1 1/2 coil out of the front of it. Result was about 2" clearance under the radiator guard/mount in the front. Rode like a truck! But I thought it was KOOL at the time. Cruzin the driveins on Blue Ridge Blvd. Chuck in NH
