What's one of these worth? I went to a car show/swap meet today and a guy had one off a Studebaker, with all kinds of brackets. Didn't really check it out, know nothing of condition. Guy wanted 750. Good????

Prices vary by condition. I would call it a bit high but EBAY prices seem to be going up. If the unit turns fairly free with a little drag and no rough spots it may be ok. If its been apart be careful. Chuck in NH

Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

From what I have seen, the VR's are worth a whole lot more than the VS's since the VR's were really a 1957 Ford only item. How one got adapted to a Studebaker, I have no idea, but anything is possible.

I have had a couple VS57's through my hands, and the prices certainly vary according to condition. Like Chuck says, it is hard to say what is on the inside of that thing. Most of these things have seen some type of abuse down through the years. I think John Erb now charges $1350 just to rebuild one...so you can use that as some sort of gauge if you like. Most of the time, I would not spend any more than $200-$300 on one of unknown condition that would probably need a rebuild. My 2 cents...

Dan;

Paxton also built VR58 blowers, which looked exactly like VR57s.  They did have larger drain hose fittings though.  I once bought three of them from a Stude guy from South Bend who raced a blown Avanti in stock eliminator.  He got them out of the Stude experimental dept, and there was a bracket that adapted the VR to a Stude V8.  The blowers were new, and I gave him $200 for all 3.  That would have been in about '64.

Wow - learn something new every day. I have only ever heard (or seen) of the VS57's being installed in Studebaker's.

$200? for 3 blowers? talk about inflation! Can't imagine what those things are worth today! w00t

Stalled out on my own VS57 build. The belt I need had to be ordered. No one in town had it, even the mom and pop shops and the Big Warehouse parts places like CarQuest. Went to their own distribution center for crying out loud?!?

Paul:::: you getting ready to buy a blower?
