Kenneth, I think that you guys have hills down there to help.  I grew up in Panhandle where the nearest hill was probably 200 miles away, so i was at a disadvantage.  I also had a constant 20 to 20 MPH wind to contend with.  Plus my old junk was so worn out that when I got up to speed it wandered around the highway so bad I could not look at the speedometer.

Cactus, I still have a ticket I got for 120 in a 30 in 1965 to prove that they would get there. It cost me a whole $10. But that was lots of money in 1965.

I assume it's to make it easier to read also, but always baffled by the fact that the 10 mph marking are not reversed----go figure.  On my 57 T-bird the last two markings (130 and 140) are similarly reversed.

I think that if it was like my two barrel 272 original car, it was designed to make you think that you could actually get the needle there.  Never happened.

Moz you win the prize. That is correct. But also because the speedometer is round and people have difficulty reading upside down.
