g,day there . in my 56 vicky i,ve just rebuilt the engine. it,s a 54 mercury block & cam with 272 crank & rods and also 272 heads with a new 350 cfm holly carb. the engine is 60th over & the crank is 10 mains 10 bigend. machine work was done by engine worx in winchelsea the heads had all new valves seats & guides. the block & heads were all surfaced ground .my problem is that the crank case breather is dripping oil out of it when you take it for a short drive an the engine is at operating temp. underneath the car it has oil all over the chassis .also the oil fiiller breather has fumes coming out of it also. i put the engine together my self was very carefull of what i was doing as i,ve done a lot of engines over the years . my engine machist asked me if i,d put the rings in the right way i told him i had. i took the crank case breather of and checked to make sure that it was,nt blocked but it was all clean and i put new gaws in it. the oil filler breather is all clean and breathing alright to. the engine has only done about 600klm ( or 372 mls ).maybe i,ve done something wrong when i was putting it together.the mercury motor was in the car when i bought with triple carbs on a edelbrock 573 maniflod all polished up looked good to .the engine ran well but was a little tied but with no oil leaks or breathing problems.i know the hair is getting a lot thinner now and changed colour, the eyes aren,t what they used to be either.
