I recommend checking these caps and maybe even helicoiling them prior to install. However I lacked the foresight so I am in process of doing the deed cap installed.

First I ran some pipe cleaner with a small amount of gasket sealer on the end down hole to pick the remander of torn threads.. Found more than I expected. Next I placed some wide blue tap under the cap making sure the hole bottom would collect the drilling. Drilled slow with vacuum cleaner picking up the chips, same with the tap. The coil tang is the hard part, here again I got lucky with the a pair of forceps ( roach clip ).

Since tension level is so high I elected to only do the deed to the one stripped hole.
