The Y out of my recently purchased 64 runs pretty well, no smoke, does leak pretty good though.
Since I have it out and on a stand for the bell housing mods (T-5) I figure I may as well run through it with some new bearings & hone the cylinders and install some fresh rings - it needs new gaskets anyway. I can't afford a full rebuild at this time.
Any pointers guys?

I like using flex hones for a used cylinder thats gonna get reringed. cant find away around this term but there also called ball hones. Dont forget to check the cam bearings. http://www.flexhone.com/flexhone%20for%20cylinders.htm

Be sure the lifters go back in their original holes if reusing them with the original camshaft. If replacing the camshaft, be sure to use new lifters. Lube all parts thoroughly during reassembly. Don’t use an impact wrench in taking apart or reassembling the engine. If replacing the cam bearings, then put a groove in the cam hole in the block behind the cam bearing that interconnects the three holes there. This will take care of potential or future topend oiling issues. Just take your time and pay attention to the little details.
