John: As noted the clips on the car vary & some may not be original. It can be a pain to remove the trim, you just have to be patient to avoid damage. The Gold trim may be glued in some way so take your time with it. Even if you are not reusing it,there are others who will want it, if in decent shape, as good stuff is hard to find.

If you only want to remove the gold trim, you can just snap off the upper stainless trim and then the gold can be removed. It will snap off pretty easy if you take your time and go slow. I use a stiff putty knife about 1" wide with ! wrap off duct tape around it to keep from damaging it. Be prepared to get some new clips as after 50 years some of them will be rusted and will break when you pop the trim.

Anyone have some tricks or tips on removing the gold/chrome trim from the outside of the car?  Do I have to pull the door panels to get to the clips on the inside.  I want to do some quick paint to clean up the car and if there is an easy way so I don't have to tape all that off, that would be great.  -
