Paul i,d recheck back of rocker cover again for oil leak, its more feasible than exhaust bolt.

Checked the plug in the left rear of block, above the oil pump, no sign of leakage.. however, much to my surprise it appears the oil is coming out of the very left rear exhaust manifold bolt, & the bolt is finger loose. Is this a place where oil can normally seep through? I checked the rear edge of the rocker cover, which has a near new neoprene gasket. Does not appear to be leaking there. So ??

As you can see in the 2 pics Bill posted, early blocks are drilled and tapped for oil pressure sender at rear of block and the C2AE is not. Bill, that C2AE pic looks very familiar.

Paul, i,m sure it is the oil pressure switch outlet, passenger cars seem to have it at the back in that boss, trucks and perhaps others have switch nearer the center of block, all of which i feel makes no difference, looking at 272 blocks i have here, they have tapped hole for oil switch. Take out bolt? and see if its oily? regards bill.

Aussi Bill: Yes probably, however my block is a B9AE & the boss is threaded with a 5/16" or 3/8" bolt in it. Noticed the oil gallery plug in your photo. Best I have another look, maybe that could be where some oil is leaking from?

Y Blk Billy; Maybe you are right about the wire loom, unfortunately they're missing on my engine, so not sure. Thanks everyone for the replies..

Or might you be talking about the boss which holds the wire loom? I think that has a 5/16" bolt though.

If you are referring to the two holes at the extreme right side of Bill's photo, they are for the bracket that supports the inboard end of the clutch equalizer bar on standard shift cars.

Never noticed before, a cast boss with a what appears to be a 3/8" bolt in it just above the oil pump. The bolt is partly out & has nothing attached to it. What is it for?
