Some of the later Y blocks used drilled cams, I juess they were just using up a stock of blanks. I assume that you have replaced the bearings, in which case they sould work fine with the grooved cam.

you only need to change the center bearing but you have to buy the whole set.

The grooved journal camshaft will work fine with the ‘cross drilled’ cam bearings.  There is no need to change the ‘cross drilled’ cam bearings if they are in good condition and properly aligned with the holes in the block as they will oil the topend fine when used with the center grooved camshaft.  Just make sure that the camshaft groove itself is deep and wide enough to prevent ‘down the road’ oiling problems as the camshaft wears into the center cam bearing.
