Just bought a '53 F100. The original flathead has been eradicated and in it's place sits a shiny new '54 Y block. Ok, it's not shiny...or new...no, not really. In it's places, sits an old rusty '54 Y block. Here's where the questions start.

1) What size (CID) V8s were produced that year? 2) How many of those were options in the F100 in '54? 3) How can you tell the difference between those options? 4) Chrome or painted grill for the '53? (I'm still in the air on this one!)

Any help with identifying which engine I have would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

TD

Only the 239 was produced for the 54 Ford cars and trucks. Mercury had a 256, not available in cars (except for police cars) and trucks.

Can't help on the grille
