Welcome! I'm 26 and got my 55 Merc with its original 292 about 5 months ago. Just took her for a spin a couple days ago for the first time in over 17 years! I was 9 when it last was driven!! Without this site, and all the awesome guys, it probably would still be sitting. Don't give up on it! There is a company called Carburator Doctor and I believe they are Canada, they sell rebuild kits for all the old carbs. If you have any questions feel free to ask, someone on this site will know the answer.

Loving my Y!

Yeah its a real neat engine and I love the sound from what I hear on youtube videos. I cant wait to hear mine run, but I have to be patient.

I must say though, the first time I seen the ehaust crossing the front of the engine I wanted to bolt a turbo to it. I have a turbo, wastegate, flange, etc.... sitting in my garage right now....BigGrin . I tend to want to make everything have forced induction. I have been building DSMs since I was 16 so I have a vast knowledge of turbo everything.

Im thinking the ramhorn manifolds and some side exit true duals will sound nasty enough though.

Welcome to the Y-Block world. It's great to see a "youngun" appreciate this great engine. Great bunch of guys here and ready to help you out. My Y-Block knowledge is limited so I won't be much help, but I am learning.

I currently have five Ford trucks from the 61-64 year range. I have all the other years, but I am missing a 62

Hey thanks for all the warm welcomes. I have been reading about the y blocks and im pretty much in love w00t. As of right now I need to open her up before shes ready to fire. I have no clue how long shes been sitting around so I would hate to ruin a good engine by getting in a hurry to hear the y block growl.

Things I know im going to need are a dizzy cap, swap out the carb, plugs and wires, amd a few random hoses and wires that are off it. It came with a spare rebuilt holley carb but im having a hard tme I.Ding it. It is a 2 barrel carb and appears to be older. I also FOUND a holley fuel pump in my dads barn that I didnt know what it went to until now Smile

 Hello,

My name is Dick and I am 22 years old. I recently picked up a ratrod/traditional project in the form of a 62 f100. I plan to keep the y block instead of swapping it out like most folks do , so I decidedI better join the board before I get to far into the 292.
