Up here in Michigan this week visiting quite a few in-laws. Unlike many who have issues with mother-in-laws and the like, these are really great folk. I dropped in to see a friend of mine, Bob Haas. Bob is a touch older than I am Tongue, and actually retired from Ford in 1999. He was a draftsman for many years. He has oodles of Y block parts lying around his shop, and all of his cars are Y block powered (except for his new Mustang). We spent most of the day tooling around in his 54 Sunliner (you can see it has the plexiglass hood for dealers to show off the new Y, and he even modified a couple of valve covers to show off the rocker arms. He is currently working on a 55 Tbird (292, 4 barrel) and is almost finished with it.

Take a look at some of these photos...

Great Stuff!!!

That's pretty darn cool!  It's neat you can get to see this stuff and I'm sure he is glad to show it off to someone who can appreciate it. BigGrin

Wow Dan that is awesome.. Is his an original Plexi-Hooded model or did he modify one.. I've read that the original dealer showcase models are pretty rare..

I've seen that car a few times. In fact I saw it a couple weeks ago at the "Spark Plugs" (local club) car show. He usually brings to the FMRC show in mid July in Belleville Mi. I dont know Bob, but I'll look him up next time I see the car.

Dan, Bob is one of the members of that FMRC club and he showed me the "blueprints" and schematics of the car show complex (I think it was the Wayne County Fairgrounds). If I am not mistaken, Bob may be one of the behind the scenes type of guys working to make that show happen. He gave me a flyer about the show, unfortunate that the timing did not work out for it to be this weekend. Definitely look him up and tell him I sent you...

Dan. Small world out there. I also have a buddy that helps set up the swap meet part of the show. He usually brings his 32 Ford to the show. Too bad it has a SBC in it. I've already signed up for the show, its one I always try to make.
