My 57 Ford needs to be moved about 10 miles (16Km) by towing or flat bed. Is it safe to tow it that far?  Thanks.

Hello; The Ford O Matic has a rear oil pump as well as a front pump. To tow this kind of car disconnect the drive-shaft. A flat bed might be easier. Or secure the front wheels and lift the rear of the car(this is a poor choice) Pete

Paul:

A 10 mile trip at reasonable speed (40mph) should not hurt the trans.  Be sure it is in neutral, not R, DR, or LO.  The rear pump will provide oil circulation for the bushings and thrust washers.
