Hello; Nice car. As to adding a brake booster, on my 55Tbird I removed the power booster that mounted on the drivers side inner fender and kept the same brake pedal and linkage. AS to the tank mine was all in one assembly and I believe the tank is only used if the motor dies or is shut off while driving. Is the one you are adding connected between the master and the brake pedal like a 65 Mustang? Can you show a picture? Hope this is of some help. Pete

I want to convert my manual brakes to power in my 54 Merc. I have an original power brake booster (bendix) with adapter plate to the firewall, which I finally found. Can I bolt this up to my original brake pedal set-up or do I need to get a power brake pedal & linkage?     They also had a tank with the originals. Do I need to use one?   Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks, Mike.
