Just an update and check in.  After waiting all winter for the summer so I could dive into this project.. I've had about 6 hours total to work on the car.  This summer has been much busier time-wise (and a little tight $$$ wise) than I planned.  Of course I should be used to that by now, each summer seems to get worse.  I wish I could go back 4 years when I spend most every day in the garage and finish with some beers and brats on the grill with my college room mates!

I have gotten the y-block running for now, but just took out the gas tank today and it is junk.  So I need to save up to get a new one.  I see them on rock-auto.com for $170, might as well get the sending unit too, and new straps, no sense hanging a new tank with rusty straps.

Finally got the rear brake drums off today, pads and drums don't look bad.  But I figure I should replace the wheel cylinders, and I'd really like to upgrade to a modern master cylinder before going great guns down the freeway.  I need to get an extra hand to bleed to brakes to see if the existing system is even doing anything.

And last but not least tires....gotta replace those old F78-15s....

So I'm figureing about $750 and another completely free weekend and I'll actually be able to drive my rust bucket around!  So if $750 and 1 weekend is my estimate better apply the car-builder rule of thumb and multiply by 10!!!

Just wanted to drop in, I think about everyone on the forum when I go look at the car.  When I left the garage today I spent about 5 minutes just starring at the front of the car.  Even my rustbucket looks so cool!  That flying jet hood ornament, man I just kep starring at it imagining drivin down the street!  I will get this car going.  But gotta get my little borther married next weekend, then my cousin's gettin' married next month...it'll be bow hunting season by the time I get back to the garageHehe
