Has anyone used some of this stuff and if so is it the stuff carried by Napa/Autozone, etc? Finishing up a disc brake conversion on my Galaxie and need to make some new lines with a few tight bends.

I used a piece of pipe clamped in my bench vise to bend my line around.If you carefully bend the brake line around the pipe it will not kink.Different diameter pipe can be used tor different size bends.

  

This stuff is used in Europe a lot.

Mark, I plumbed the Falcon with steel tubing from NAPA. I do have a couple of different benders that I used but unless you are making extreme bends it is easy to work by hand. Make sure that you have a good flaring tool that will make a double flare. If you have never made double flares, you may want to practice on a couple before you tackle the real thing. The tubing comes in up to 60" sections.

Thanks for the tips. I have a Snap-On (Blue Point) double flaring kit and have used it over the years to make repairs with good luck. Just need to be patient and careful. I don't have a tubing bender, misplaced it somewhere I guess, so I will go to the parts stores and see what I can get and fiddle with it a bit. I like the pipe-in-the-bench-vise idea. Mainly, I want to bend enough line to absorb vibration between the master cylinder and the combination valve to prevent leaks later.

I used 3/8" tubing from NAPA for the fuel lines on the Falcon, the bender that I had would not handle 3/8" so I picked up a pretty neat bender from NAPA that has an interchangeable wheel to allow bending the larger tubing. One trick is too use some lube when bending the larger stuff. All in all it turned out pretty good and a lot cheaper than the steel braided line or even the alum fuel line.

The pipe in the vise was really handy for making coils in the line between master cylinder and frame.Works well.Just keep the line tight to the pipe as you bend around it. 

  

I am considering using braided steel brake line instead of regular line from my master cylinder to the proportioning valve due to close quarters for the installation. I have looked through Summit's online catalog and found nothing with the proper style fittings. Has anyone done this and if so where can I get the lines with proper fittings?
