I have a 1959 Mercury Monterey that I am restoring. I have had the 312 rebuilt, and it's time for painting it. I would like to paint it the original colors, but haven't had any luck finding a reference to what those colors might be. Anyone on here know what the correct colors are supposed to be?

What color is the block now? I believe that 59 Merc blocks were a medium green color. However, I don't know what it was called & that's not for sure..?

Block, heads and oil pan black, valve covers and air cleaner turqoise. I called my friend who has one '59 and this was his reply. He has nice sites... www.mercuryman.fi and he is also a member of this forum.

Thanks for the info.  After all the grease/crud was cleaned off the block, there is a small patch of light blue on the back of one of the original heads.  Also, the valley pan had the same color on it. The odd part is that the valve covers and air cleaner were the same color.  So, I suspected that someone painted either the entire engine, or at least the valve covers and air cleaner at some point in it's life.

Thanks for the reference to the other site too. cool site, and beautiful car that your friend has.
