Hi guys.  My name is Don and I hail from Sturtevant, WI (15 miles South of Milwaukee).  Why am I on this site, you ask?  Well, I bought a 59 Ford Custom 300 with a 292 and 3-speed stick on Saturday.  Two weeks ago I never woulda thunk it.  I have been a died in the wool Olds guy for my whole "car" life.  My first car was a 78 Olds Cutlass, which I still have.  Anyways, some guy down my road had the 59 Ford for sale.......it was in great shape, solid floors, frame, and a good body with minimal surface rust.  The car also has a running 292, and its a 3 speed manual.

I am not much for car shows or restoration.  I am a hardcore racer (brackets, index) and frequent my local track on a weekly basis.  I race my 78 Olds and I also have a dragster that runs mid 8s in the 1/4.  This car was something different though.  The car just looks like something to cruise around in.  And me, I like to cruise.  It really is a refreshing project as I have spent my whole life trying to figure out how to go faster down the 'strip.  Now, my goal with the Ford is to build a dependable, and comfortable driver.  This won't be a show car either, it will be my daily driver for the summer when I am done with it.

Well, I will be asking a lot of questions so bear with me gentlemen.  I never heard of a Y-block until last week when I started to learn about the motor under the hood of my car.  Yes, I am a bit young yet at 28 years old......and I got into cars about 6 years ago.  Before then I couldn't even do a brake job.......now I build my race motors (haven't lost one yet).  Anyways, thanks for havin me, looks like a great site!!
