Once I had a problem li this. The leak was from the ventilation hole of the pump. It was gasoline plus oil. Had to replace the pump, and change oil/filter.

Your case may be just a bad gasket.

I have access to fuel pumps produced for Y-Blocks, by Kobla of Argentina that was a former FoMoCo suplyer. The application is specific Y-Block. I used the Carter pump, manufactured by Federal Mogul, and noticed a "clicking" sound at idle. Discovered it was the spring, that didn't had the correct pressure for the engine. Replaced with a Kobla, and the problem was gone. I also used a Motorcraft pump, with the glass filter, but decided to use a sealed pump, and keep the Motorcraft as a colector piece (they are pretty rare in Brasil)

I bought a carter fuel pump.I believe it was a 3150.Works great.Anything for a 352-390 series motor.Depends if you want the filter on the pump or solid bottom.Have a look on ebay by searching "390 ford fuel pump".Gives an idea of whats available.

  

It could be as simple as a gasket. The bolt holes are tapped through the timing cover; you may need to add some thread sealer.



Any FE pump should mount to the engine and pump properly however, you may have to modify or make new fuel lines. The key is that the pump arm is correct and I believe all FEs are the same in that area.

I have a '57 Ford with a 312 that is leaking oil form the fuel pump area on the engine. There is oil on the bottom of the oil pump, power steering hoses and lower A arm (I have confirmed that it is oil and not power steering fluid). I made sure the pump mounting bolts are tight. My question is it possible for oil to leak from some portion of the fuel pump due to wear or is there a potential leak point on the engine at the fuel pump area, that is hidden by the fuel pump? I don't know any thing about the age of the pump, it does work but appears to have been on the engine for some time.

I thought I would ask for advice before just spending money on a new fuel pump. Also since I am not using the vacuum side of the fuel pump (I switched to a brand X electric wiper motor) I understand that a FE pump will work. Does anybody have any more specifics as to year and application.

I have road draft tube has been resealed, so I don't think that is the source of the leak since much of the oil leaking is forward of that location.
