I have been frequenting the H.A.M.B in recent times and have been gathering ideas for a Y Block project car, what I have noticed over there is an increasing interest and following of the Y Block, now I know many of our members here like me are also Hambers and have been offering up some great tech advice to boot, Seems that the desirability of the Y is on the up, the cam bearing oiling issues are fading to grey with modern oils and some engineering and the punters are becoming really keen for the Y as a non scrub, traditional Ford hot rod engine, They are gettin it to!!!!

I agree. I've seen the same thing over on the HAMB. Seems like when someone asks for advise on a Y-Block they always send them over here for the answer. Y-Block The New Flathead. I like that.

I use links to threads on here all the time over there (HAMB) and have sent a couple of guys just in the last two days.  Reference to y-blocksforever.com saves me a lot of typing.

Although I don't log into the HAMB, I love some of the build threads and tech stuff they have. I too have noticed increased interest in the Y Block over there. A lot of misinformation gets posted, but usually someone will jump in with the correct information or refer them to this site. I just find that the HAMB is a little to busy for me and while I am sure there are some great guys over there, there are a few jerks that always seem to have to jump in on every topic. That is the great thing about this forum, everyone is polite, respectful, and always willing to help.

Tim if I'm not mistaken it was you that led me to this site from the HAMB.. Thanks for that by the way.. Thanks to this site and all of the knowledge you've all so freely shared and the fact that I soak up any knowledge that has to do with cars like a sponge, i've become the guy to go to when it comes to Y-Blocks in my area.. And you're right, I think the Y is poised for a total takeover when it comes to vintage ford plants.. Rod and custom broke it's Y-block feature streak, But Street Rodder picked up the bill with a nice duece high-boy Pickup with a Y, outfitted with a Marine maifold and sidedraft carters

The Y block has been ignored way too long and is about the last of the vintage motors to be rediscovered,I wish I would of built the original 272 that was in my 55 instead of going with a 351 but will be fixing that next year.  I think the only other vintage V8 to not be used much is the Studebaker V8.

I've seen a few guys, even on the HAMB, that still like Studes.  Not too many but they're out there.  I always thought they were a good design and you know the big Packard V8 is a Stude engine.
