On my original '55 heads, ECG-D I put in the 1.92 intakes, mild cam and full rebuild, .030 over I believe, did I gain anything with the larger valves. Now my 312 is out of a '57 Ford wagon, the heads on it are ECZ-C, with no 5752 casting with Mercury valve covers, kinda figure a head swap for a valve job some time ago. Will putting the 1.92s in here do any good or just a waste of money. Just the cost of the valves, my stuff is done for free at the speed shop.

Gary: I'm a little confused by your post, however, first as you may know the ECZ-C heads are 1956, not original to 1957. I don't get the reference there to 5752? As I recall, 5752-113 is the casting #s on 1958-"113" heads. Maybe others here follow, but I'm not sure what you are getting at?

Paul, On John Mummerts sight under heads it says 56 & later heads have a 5752 cast on it, this has the ECZ-C, which is a 56, this is where my mention came into play and the confusion. Trying to explain these heads the best I can. Gary

It looks like a typo on the pic on top, down the chart 5752 starts at 58, takes care of that part.

Gary, Since it is your car and you put the larger intake valves in the ECG-D heads why don`t you tell us if it did any good. How does it run? What transmission? what cam? what rear gears? You should pick up power above 3500 RPM what is your experience? Finally why ask us?

I never ran the car before I put the larger valves in so I can't compare it performance wise. It runs like a dream, it has an rv cam in it, fordo, 465 holley, 3:30 gears and as far as 3500, I never really run around there. If the general opinion is that it doesn't do anything for my driving range I'll leave the stock valves in, just checking for when and if I do anything with the 312.

If you don't do much driving above 3500 then the bigger valves are a waste.  ECZ-C heads are great with the stock 1.78" in. for general street use.

Tim: Just for info, would larger intake valves in the ECG-D heads, probably result in shrouding issues?

Paul
