I got hold of Denny's driveshaft, they got me a rear joint that bolts right up to my stock 55 rearend and then fits any 1310 application driveshaft. Now to find one the right size or a longer one to be cut down. The 1310's are used on most GM, Mopar and Ford shafts. Gary

Does anyone know the driveshaft length comparison between a 55 fordo and a 55 standard, Gary

As I recall, all you need is a '57 yolk. The yolk is long enough that it will still go into the trans far enough to work just fine.

Its been nearly 40 years but as I recall my 66 Mustang with 200" 6 and C4 used an oddball u-joint that was mechanics and spicer. Sort of an adapter u-joint. Might help you find something. A lot of companies used the spicer style u-joint, not just Ford. When I put a 352 C6 in my 59 F250 I used a drive shaft from an Olds wagon. Length was perfect

Gary: If you still have the stock rear end and driveshaft, finding a late model shaft that uses that old small mechanics style u joint would be nearly impossible I would think.  '60s Mustang 6 cyl. cars used that size, but the shafts would be too short.  You may end up having a shaft built.

My stock shaft is 53" from pivot center to pivot center, I'll need one around 56".

Not sure the difference between your top loader 3 speed and my T-10 4 speed but my original driveshaft just had to be shortened 1 inch to fit. They put in new universals, balanced it also for $100.

Has anyone thats put a 3 speed toploader in a 5 or 6 ford found a driveshaft that'll fit. I'm thinking late 60's thru mid 70's longer wheelbased Fords or Mercs might be close. I'll make a new one if I have too, just looking for the lazy way. Gary
