Hi, I have a 1957 292 engine, the fuel pump I pulled from the engine doesn't resemble anything from the auto parts catalog for thais year. Would appreciate it if anyone can help me identify this from the photos I took. Didn't see anything on the pump to help cross reference. Would like to know if anyone knows of a reliable rebuilder? This pump was in working condition for a number of years I'm just not actually sure it was the correct pump for this engine. Thanks Mario

Hi Mario, I think that is a 1954 239 Y-Block fuel pump. You can use a 390 Ford early model fuel pump to replace it. If you have vacuum windshield wipers the fuel pump should look similiar to your picture but the glass bowl should be on the bottom. The later models don't have the glass bowl. The dual diaphram pump was used to assist the windshield wipers when you were going up a hill because intake manifold vacuum drops an the wipers would not work. A 57 chevy electric wiper motor will work in place of the 57 Ford vacuum winshield wiper motor and then you can use the 390 Ford ford fuel pump with the single diaphram. Barney of Mayberry

Its a 54-57 dual action pump. Increased vacuum for the wipers as well as pumping fuel.

Pump is upside down - looks like a dual diaphram pump for a YBlock
