I have never checked the  pressure sense I installed the pump. I put it on the engine when I built it and have been running it for two years with no problems in my F100. The hi po 427 pump would be a good option, just going too cost a little more, I think Holley still has a nice looking chrome unit. As John said the arm may not look like the orginal, but it works great. I like the one with the canister filter because it is easy to change, it drains from the bottom, and its cheap.

No need to fret about the actuating arm, it will work as is.  Some arms are straight, some have a downward bend near the tip, but both work just fine.  Your fuel lines may need adjusted to fit the location on the pump.  If the pump is the screwed together type, you can rotate the lower housing if you need to.  If it is crimped together, you are stuck with the line locations on the pump.

Thanks for all the info guys, I'm still sick over the hood thing. Hopefully they can get the paint to match correctly. I've actually become freinds with these guys at the shop before this happened and they are going to go out of there way for me, and they want it to be right & not happen again.

On the vacuum wipers, your probably right John, as I saw some on ebay without the vacuum booster on the fuel pump for those earlier years.

I am going to go to NAPA as Glen suggested. What about the rod lenth on this pump fora 73 f100?   I figure I might as well take care of some of the odds & ends while she's in the shop as I can go down anytime.     Thanks again, Mike

Just because the early '50s Fords had vacuum wipers doesn't mean they had dual pumps.  I believe the dual pump was an extra cost option in those days.  My '56 Bird had a single pump on it when I bought it in '62.  It was a 292 with 3 speed, still all original.

All of the FE pumps will fit. I run a 427 HiPo pump on my 292 for more output. The filter canister pump is probably a good option because of the added, and replaceable, filter.

By the by, on the hood fly up problem. Not uncommon in this type of latch. You can add pins to the bottom lip of the hood. Drill a hole for each on either side of the lip of the grill surround, and pin it down. It dosn't show and gives you the added security. Its an old idea reborn by Walley on his beautiful red Ford racer. Chuck

Don't know about the wipers on the early trucks, but the best and cheapest pump for the Y block is at your local NAPA store. Just ask for a pump for a 1973 F100 with the 360 FE engine. It has the canister filter on the bottom and looks good on a Y block. I think the last one that I bought was around twenty buck.

I switched my wipers to 12v electric 2 yrs ago & still have the 2 stage fuel pump. I would like to change it to a single stage one but am a little confused. I saw some on ebay listed for a 54 or 55 truck. Didn't they have vacuum wipers too?  There are also some listed for 272,292,312's from different years.  What about the rod length on them? My engine is a 55 272.    Any info would be appreciated! Thanks, Mike
