New to posting here, normally on FTE.com.

Basic info: 1954 ford f100 with 239-y currently running a 1964 3-spd. and fenton shifter.

I am being given an old Fordomatic\Cruisomatic trans and was trying to identify it useing the casting numbers on the gear box and bellhsg. I can not see the pan in pictures to get shape but here are the castings...bell=PMB 797-GA    W2     trans=5C-1   WG DIV     N 10

can anyone tell me what vehicle this is from and a better idea of what exactly it is?  Or just point me in the correct direction. I would like to fit this behind my 239 but it may need a rebuild kit, different bell, etc...

1954 Ford F-100 239-Y

On the driver's side of the trans, aft of the shift levers, should be an oval aluminum tag with numbers and letters.  That is the info needed to ID the trans.  If it came off a Y block, it will fit your 239.  If it came from something else, you will need a Y block bell and flywheel, and possibly converter.
