Stumps me......it worked on the one I've got....the screw you are turning works against the spring preload which makes it stiffer - which reduces the advance travel.

Sounds like time for an "invention" - where's MacGiver when you need'em?

If the full travel of the operating link is giving you 20° - then half of it would be 10° which is getting down there....

If it's the type of advance which only has a screw, it may not be able to limit the maximum advance, it may only limit the rate.

I give up on the advance curve. I bought a VC 223 advance. I turned the screw ccw 14 turns and I still get 20 degrees at the crank with 15 inches of vacuum. Dont know how yall get 8 degrees.

Thanks Steve. I have a hard time finding anybody that carries Standard anymore. I just bought the last VC 223 from rock auto. It was a closeout so it was cheap. Sad because Standard and Bluestreak were top sellers back when I sold parts.

Hi Kenny.....I bought the one I got off ebay - and for three reasons - (1) it was new and dirt cheap - and according to a reference/interchange I found -(2) it fit a Duraspark II model of distributor - (3) it was supposed to be adjustable.

Even though the base body for my dizzy is an Autolite - the swivel plate and stator are off the later Duraspark II, so I figured that was what I had to match up with.

Ok i noiticed in a earlier post 2 different part # recomendations for vacuum advances. If your going to adjust it does it really make a difference which one you use.
