It's time to make the list of things to do. Her's mine:



Disc Brakes on the front. Grenada spindles and calipers.

All new brake lines front to rear.

Get my Dual quads to open sooner.

Recurve the distributor.

Rebuild my top loader four speed. I need to be able to hit some hard second gears!

Change my 9" 3.55 gears for 3.89 or lower.

Get that silly fuel gauge to work.

Put my Optima Battery in the trunk.

Some kind of traction bars.

Add some seat belts.

Save up for some Jerry Christensen headers.

Repaint the dash and window surrounds to the red body color.



I just wish it would warm up a little as my shop is not insulated. It's 22 degrees now.



Any suggestion would be appreciated.

lemme know how you get your fuel guage to work... I put in a new tank and sender, but it won't move the needle above a quarter tank...

suppose there's a problem with the guage itself??

I've got a 57 Fairlane; new wiring through out...

any ideas or fixes you find, please post!

Mark, here is an easy way to test a fuel gauge and sender. Works with almost any setup. Remove the wire from the center of the sender, turn the ignition switch on and read the gauge. Now ground the wire you removed to a good ground and read the gauge. Gauge should read at opposite ends when the wire is grounded and ungrounded. Gauges and senders are sometimes different so it may read full when grounded or ungrounded. If gauge reads as above you know the wiring and gauge are good, if not check again at the gauge to eliminate the wiring.



Now remove the sender and reconnect the sender wire. Ground the mounting plate of the sender to any clean ground and with your hand move the float through it's full range of motion while watching the gauge with the key on. If gauge does not move from full to empty and back you have a bad sender or a mismatched sender as you already tested the gauge and wiring in the firs paragraph.
