Well, I was working out the problem with my fuel pump sucking in air, after I put my filter up right, the problem went away. so I begin to adjust my carb so I can drive it some more before I take stuff apart for the turbo build, I was changing the accelerator pump nozzle, well I guess I over tighten the bolt, the threads came right out on the main body. I wasnt even cranking down on it, cheap pos pot metal carb, when I was messing with the autolites I crank down on the bolt to the venturi boosters and they wont strip like this. Is there any way to fix this? helicoil? or did I just destory my 400 dollar carb?

Shortening the bottom of the accelerator pump shooter by about 0.100" will allow you to pick up a couple of new threads with the existing screw.  Another option is to find another bolt at the hardware store that's the same thread and modify it for length and then grind or machine the taper back into it where it fits back into the top of the accelerator pump shooter.  If you use a bolt instead of a screw, you'll likely have to put a slot into the top of it to allow the use of a screwdriver.

no is not going work, all the threads are gone... I tried emailing Holley to see if they will do anything for/about it, since I got it new and they use pot metal for their carb =_= they wont even answer my email, I mail them twice in 2 weeks.



I might need to tap a bigger thread hole and use a bigger bolt.

I don't recall specifically what the thread size is for the accelerator pump screw but it's likely something out of the ordinary knowing Holley.  The use of Helicoils in this area would likely be a problem due to the two slots in the hole that provide a path for the fuel to get to the acceleratory pump nozzle alongside the screw.  I'm surprised all the threads in the body are gone though as the accelerator pump screws are usually on the short side as supplied with the carburetors.  The screws provided in the Dominator carbs are typically longer though and also have a thicker head that allows for some more lengthening if necessary.  The accelerator pump screws in the Dominators also have a hole drilled through their centers to provide some additional fuel flow to the nozzles.  These particular screws use to be offered as an individual service part but the last time I needed some, I had to call Holley directly for them.  I typically need these screws when going to pump shooter sizes that exceed 0.040" but in your case, this might be an option.

Drilling and tapping to a slightly larger size is also an option but you'll need to insure adequate fuel to the nozzle as you'll lose some of the feed slot when installing a larger screw.  Drilling the screw down its center similar to what was done with those on the Dominator carbs would likely get you around that particular fuel delivery issue.

hmm I got some of that hollowed screw, and thats what stipped the hole, guess I am really "screwed"



even tho I wont be using this carb after the turbo, it still hurts that this 400 dollars carb break so easily. I have less then 1000 miles on it.
