Installed a Canton brand billet aluminum remote filter bracket last nite and when I fired up the motor there was a steady flow of oil from between the gasket and the mounting bracket. This is my first time using a billet bracket and was puzzled why the filter mounting surface was simply flat and without machined groove or something to nest the rubber gasket. But looking at the block mounting for the spin on filter, it too is just flat, and I have no leaks there.

Any thoughts on what I should look for tonite when I resume working the problem. I prelubed the gasket with clean oil, spun on till contact, then a quarter turn to compress the gasket... how simple can it be?

Cheers... Brian

PS: I used the Canton 90 degree swivel adapter plate on the block and it's awesome for fine tuning the routing of the stainless braided lines.
