Hello, new here and looking for someone that rebuilds 56 Tbird carbs. think the call it a teapot or something to that effect.  any help would be great.  thanks  Jim

Carburetor rebuilders in Az. will do it. Wyoming Carburetors . If you have access to the newest issue look up parts and supplies section for 53-59 fords there is a guy in there almost every month that rebuilds them. My advice is to throw it as far as you can into some lake close buy and get a 390 CFM Holley and forget about it.

Suggest you don't throw it away. Whoever wants to restore the car, or another 55 will want it eventually. The 390 is, however a decent choice for a "Driver".

Thanks for the imput guys, yea i have heard lots of bad things about it, its the Original 56 Tbird from the TV show 77 Sunset Strip. from the late 60's. So not sure what he wants to do....im up for the holley myself.....Thanks again.... JD

If you replace the stock carburetor with the Holley I believe you also will need an adapter from the small mounting bolt pattern to the larger, more common pattern as on the Holley.

The teapot can be made to run as good as any carb on the market. Just have to remember they are 50 years old and need a professional rebuild. The teapots were made to run with the loadamatic distributors.

If you do a search on this site you will find many discussions and help with the teapots quirks.



If you are going to replace the teapot with that new Holley you will have to replace the distributor to the 57 & later distributor, another expense, other expenses; you will also need a manifold to carb adapter, new fuel lines. The air cleaner will need an adapter to raise the air cleaner as the choke will hit the air cleaner.

I used a rebuilder named Mike Suter who is in PA. His phone is 215-757-3678. He is very reasonable ( not like Pony) and the carb he did for me ran good right out of the box. Nice follow up too. Supposedly he runs the carb before shipping to make sure its good. Two years later and no complaints.



I don't agree at all with Birdman. It's a good carb if redone right. There are some tricks to get it right, therefore a rebuilder is your best choice.



I'm no Holley fan either.
