I have a set of 471 heads I took to the machine shop today. Question is they have the little caps on the exhaust valves and the valves have larger stems. Whats the deal with that? Chuck

Sounds like sodium cooled valves in a set of truck heads. Those caps help the valve rotators do their jobs.

Moonshadow: You do not want those sodium cooled valves for your use. They are heavy, and in time tend to lose their heads. Have the machine shop put replacement guides in for 11/32 stem valves and use stock passenger Y valves or larger aftermarket valves if you prefer. John
