I recently rebuilt the engine; it runs fine but after a few mins with radiator cap off, I can see the coolant in the radiator start rising until finally if overflows. So I think it might be one of two problems. Another symptom is the the lower radiator hose is cold, all others at hot. I suspect the I may have the thermostat in backwards, or that the lower heater hose is going to the wrong port on the water pump. There is one port on the drivers side and another on the passenger side, Both are same size. I giess the thermostat could be bad, but it is brand new. It's freezing winter here in Michigan. not lookin forward to workin on it. But I think I'll pull the thermostat, put it in a pan and boil it a bit to see if it opens, then make sure I put it back the way it should be. In the old days, they used to be mark F or Front... oh well I'll appreciate any ideas.
Also, I replaced my origninal front drum brakes with rotors, so I have two good used drums, two brand new wheel cylinders for sale ($30) total plus shipping cheapest way.
Also looking for some friends here who are building up 56 ford trucks, just want to know if anyone wants to share the ideas, sources of parts and knowledge. Stan Yale, MI stan48312@yahoo.com
