I think this 4V carb, Holley model 2140G, ID of EBY 9510 H, List 804-5, is for a 1954 256.  Could someone please confirm the app?  I think it is a cool antique BigGrin .

Also, what color was the '54 Merc. intake?

I bead blasted the 54 intake.  The outside was blue, but underneath that was green, lighter than forest green.  Maybe green was the original color.

Hmmm.  That isnt good.  Are you sure?  There is the EBY on the carb, and EBY on the intake manifold.  I was there when the intake was taken off the 256, but the carb came from a different source.

Mike.  In looking up the R-804-5 in my older Holley literature, this shows to be an oem carb for a 1954 256ci Merc.  The carb is a model 2140 and the Ford part number (EBY-9510H) you list also matches what’s in the Holley spec manual.

Ah-So, Very good.  Thanks Ted.  What do you have as the older reference, just curious.  I looked in a Holley No. 36-51, Illustrated Parts & Specs Manual.  The manual covered back to the 2140, but this List number wasnt in there at all.  Or maybe I simply overlooked it.

yaLincoln, I did find reference to this model being used in the early Linc. Y's, but there were different List numbers.  They must have used it from 52-54, and then the 4000 beginning in 55.

Edit:  I found this pic of a '54 Merc.  It looks like the color is an aqua, kind of blue/green.  Now I need to find a source for rattle can Ford Aqua.

Mike. My Holley Illustrated Parts & Specs manual is p/n 36-51-6 and only goes back to 1957.  Your particular manual is obviously an earlier version than mine.  Where I did get the information was from the Holley Carburetor Numerical Listing manual p/n 36-168 which goes incompletely back to 1934 but is very detailed back to 1949.
