Y-Guys:    I put king pins in my ride about a month ago and I now have

a case of "shimmy"(wheels shake, whatever) when I hit a small bump.

I set the "toe" 1/8 "In" didn't help....set the toe 1/8 out to cure it

but now it "pulls" and is wearing the inner tire edge. When I was in the

4x4 business and we rebuilt Dana 44 front ball joints, they had a threaded

collar to apply load to the upper/lower ball joints to create  "drag"

when turning the knuckle side to side.

My spindle/knuckle is very "free" It will flop back and forth without

any drag on it. There's no up/down play, king pins tight....

Suggestions please...I could put a shock-type stablizer on it?

Is it the type of shimmy that doesn't go away until you slow way down?

Are your tie rod ends and drag link good?

When I had this happen, the toe was out. You've tried adjusting that so it must be something else. Do you know how long the king pins have been bad? Is it possible that caster and or camber was adjusted to compensate for worn king pin bushings? Now that you've replaced them and they're fitting right, it's back out of spec?

just a thought did you check your front spring bushings because if they worn will do the same thing and the other thing is is there a shim between the front springs and axel that  has a tapper to them it fitts between the spring and axel  this is in order to give you positive caster or neg. caster and if the tapper is facing the wrong way will change you caster from postive to neg  plus make sure all your tie rodds and drag linkes are in good shape  then get a proper wheel alienment  and wheel balance then you should be good to go just my thought ShakeySmile

Has the axle ever been out of the truck that you know of?  If it gets installed backward, the caster could be way off.  An alignment check should confirm or deny this.

If you remember Hoosier from Columbus, a beer can laying down sideways doesn't go under this axle. A loose wheel bearing, recheck lug nuts, a separation in the cord of the tire.

Someone playing a joke? I was working with a contractor on a job and the guy's were playing jokes with each other. one guy duct taped a small peice of metal to the others drive shaft, he said the truck shimmied so much on his way home the night before he thought it was going to rattle apart. I couldn't stop laughing the rest of the day on that one, what a cruel thing to do to somebody.
