I had a 292 when I was younger and got my pickup handed down from my grandpa.  The engine was tired and most likely not serviced properly.  We had to add these same oilers because the oil feed to the rack is small and if the engine has not been serviced well over the years the feed hole could be gummed up.  I would suggest removing the valve covers for start up and see if you have any oil up to your rack.  If you don't you will need to hook those oilers back up.  Don't worry your y-block will run forever like that.

Saint; The black pce with the metal end (for a wire connector) is the oil psi sender for the dash lite. The crimped line T'd in, is for an aftermarket oil gauge.

Those are aftermarket lines to bring extra oil to the rocker arms. If the block is clean and oil is flowing properly they aren't needed. More a result of lousy oil in the 50-60's and no maintenance than anything. I would'nt worry about them for start up but you will want to make sure the rockers on both sides are getting some oil flow. Its probably best to prime the oil pump by pulling the distributor and spinning the shaft with a drill. Search for priming here there should be several posts. Chuck in NH

I just bought a y-block book and its in transit so until then Im real needy

I saw during transit these lines where crimped

are they oil lines and im guessing I need to repair these....what is the thing coming out of the bottom of the block a regulator
