My valve body is fine, I need the 2 U-shaped tubes for a 51 to 54 trans. Everything else I went through and repaired any of the problems. Trans. was in good shaped except for those 2 tubes.

"In 55 the control valve assembly was changed and the front and rear servo valves were eliminated and other valves were added." Right from the Ford service manual. I take that to mean the valve for the front and rear servo were taken out not the servos themselves. Just get a valve body from a 51 to 54 and use your old tubes. Pete

I can see there was a big change to the valve body, but I am not sure what you mean by changes to the servos, because everything else looks identical to the 54 trans. I know later on the bigger changes was the elimination of the trust washers to roller bearings, and the FMX may look similar and even carries some of the same parts, but there are a lot of differences there too. But as far as the valve bodies on my 54 trans, and 55 trans I don't really know what the internal changes were in those valve bodies.

Sorry but the 54 is very different from the 55. In 55 the control valve assembly was changed and the front and rear servo valves were eliminated and other valves were added. Among them was a kickdown to first. Go for a 51 to 54, that should work. Pete

I just got done going through a auto trans from a 54 Merc, but I am transplanting the trans into a 54 Ford. The number on the tag is IP-7003-E. I needed to borrow a couple of the lines out of another auto trans that came out of a 55 Ford. The number on this trans is PAK-7003-D2. The tubes that I needed were completely different from one another. The tube from the IP trans is a 1/2 inch and is U shaped, and the other is U shaped 1/4 inch. The tubes and valve body in the PAK trans are completely different. Were there major changes between 1954, and 1955?
