Use trans fluid. Do not use power steering fluid as this can result in leaks. Type F should be ok.

Changing fluid won"t fix the leak!Ask the rebuilder what fluid he wants you to use.

What is the correct power steering fluid for a 56 Ford? The shop manual says to use Type A trans fluid. I sent in my power steering control valve for a rebuild because it leaked when I first installed it on my car. It still leaks when I got it back from the rebuilder. He says I am using the wrong fluid, that it should be Type F trans fluid. Dave
